Mile 1,520.5 - 1,545.4

Today was a perfect hiking day weather wise. It was cloudy, cool, and even rained a little in the afternoon. We are at 7,000' in elevation so I think that helps in keeping the temperatures at bay. This is a nice change from the blasting heat we've had the last few weeks.

We are still making our way around Mt. Shasta.

Balance climbing from just over 2,000' to over 7,000' in around 10 miles. The trail had many switchbacks and we broke it into two days by camping halfway up the climb yesterday.

The morning sun gave way to afternoon Clouds which gave way to evening rain. We only hiked the last mile in the rain before setting up camp for the night.

Y-Knot following the footsteps across Gumboot trailhead.

We hiked high along the ridge line for most of today. We hiked 25 miles today and still finished early. The terrain was moderate to flat. Good for making miles.

  1. Wonderful shots from up in the high country - especially when Mt Shasta is still visible.
