Mile 1,120.5 - 1,139.7

A new day, a new me. Well maybe not new. I had a great sleep last night and just knew as soon as I woke up that I was going to feel better than yesterday.
The bad news is that Balance woke up sick with the exact same symptoms as I had. Go figure right. We are only inches apart every night in our tiny two man tent. There is no avoiding the other out here.
We did very well considering, hiking almost 20 miles while sick. It is no fun to hike while sick, trust me and Balance on this one.
We hiked with our Tahoe Rim Trail friend "Brian" for awhile this morning and took a rest break together right before the PCT and the TRT split directions. Nice meeting and hiking with you. Best wishes on the remainder of your hike. I only wish we felt better but Brain understood and helped as much as he could.
After saying goodbye with Brain we hit an extremely dry exposed ridge for 6 miles and we only had less than half a liter each. Not good as the temps rose to close to in the 90's. we found a north facing slope that had a little remaining snow pack and scooped it into our bottles and under our sun hats to keep us cool.

Colorful flowers are everywhere.

Y-Knot and Brian at Barker Pass.

Lake Tahoe from high on the ridge.

Our dry and exposed ridge that lasted for miles. This is also the top of Squaw Valley Ski Area. We could see the lifts just on the other side of the ridge.

Y-Knot's water bottle and filter filled with snow. I never needed it because we came to a stream just 2 miles after this and the snow had not even melted yet.

Balance filling up her bottle and hat with snow. Funny to find a patch of snow when it's over 90 degrees out. Glad we did.
