Mile 2,126.2. - 2,148.0

Our highlight for today is the Eagle Creek alternate route. It is 15 miles long and parallels the PCT but has amazing waterfalls. 99% of all hikers take this alternate, and now we see why.
It was a very steep couple of miles from Indian Springs campground to Eagle Creek trail. So steep that I had to actually go backwards in sections to save my knees from the steep trail. It was worth it though. When we got to Eagle Creek trail, we started seeing waterfalls everywhere. The most amazing waterfall I have ever seen has to be Tunnel Falls. The trails goes right behind these massive falls and you get pretty wet. Being hot today, it felt really good.
We could have pushed it to get into the town of Cascade Locks, but decided to make tomorrow a nero. Then we cross into Washington State. Very exciting for us. We will hike 150 miles to Whites Pass, where we plan to meet Balance's family on the 25th. That will be a huge treat for us.
Almost two states down, one to go.

We love the deep green of the Pacific Northwest. Beats the desert any day.

Balance soaking her feet in Eagle Creek.

Tunnel Falls, the falls are too big for one photo. So I did the top half...

And the bottom half.

Y-Knot standing at the tunnel. The trail goes right behind the falls for only 25 feet and you come out on the other side. I was getting soaked from where I was standing in this photo, but cold water never felt so good. Today was a hot one, and the sun was perfect for taking photos of these falls. Spectacular!

Y-Knot is only a foot from the edge. The drop here is over 100 feet. This is Tunnel Falls on the Eagle Creek alternate route. We are so happy we listened to everyone who said to take this trail instead of the PCT. We loved it.

Balance emerges from a tunnel of green. These falls are one of our favorite spots on the whole trail. Just amazing!
