Mile 1,931.6 - 1,959.0

Another day of hiking by small lakes. Other than a small burn area, we were in forest most the day. Nice because we get natural shade but bad because we got swarmed by mosquitoes. They were bad today. I think these small lakes are their breeding ground and we are their prey.
We hiked another big day in hopes of going to Elk Lake Resort tomorrow morning for breakfast. It is only 1 mile by a side trail to get there. Sounds worth it to us.
We are camped right at the trail junction, so it will be an easy hike to Elk Lake in the morning.

Balance hiking through an old burn area.

A sign posted here read "Fire Closure". We were told by a few southbounders that the PCT is open but the side trails are closed. They also said the trail is fine and you only get a faint smell of smoke from the fire. We went through this and it was fine. The biggest problem was the mosquitoes.

I try to soak my feet once a day. It cleans them and it feels good to air them out.

The golden meadow.

No one said this was going to be easy. After three and a half months, here we are. In a meadow halfway through Oregon. Forward!
