Mile 1,959.0 - 1,978.0

We only had to walk one mile to the Elk Lake Resort for breakfast this morning. The problem was that they didn't start serving breakfast until 9am. We were there and hungry by 7am. We wish we'd known the hours; we would have skipped this place altogether.
Elk Lake Resort  is not set up for thru hikers. It's more of a relaxed, laid back place that everyone just hangs around, and maybe tries fishing or just reading a book lakeside. Nothing at all wrong with that, but as thru hikers we eat tons of food fast and start walking after the last mouthful is swallowed. Plus we stand out like a sore thumb. Our big packs, sweaty bodies, dirty clothes, and our odor that travels miles sets us apart from the rest.
By the time we finished our breakfast it was 10am, a very late start for us. Not a problem as we had only planned on a 20 mile day. We hope to be in the town of Sisters on Tuesday morning for our next rest day.

Entering the Sisters Wilderness Area.

Balance hiking the open terrain of the Sisters.

A field of lupines.

Looks like weather is coming in. It rained on us just after setting up camp.
