We ran into a few other thru-hikers both coming and going at the resort store. We ate breakfast by the lake before heading back out to the trail. Today was one of the flattest terrain days we've had in a long time. So the miles went by fast. So fast that we nearly broke our one day mileage record of 28. I think we ended up with 27.8 miles hiked today. Many hikers are doing much more than we are. Some claim to be hiking 35 to 40 miles in a day. Not for us; we want to stay steady and not get injured. Hikers that are doing huge miles end up taking days off and we meet them down the way anyhow. Hike your own hike!
Off to the store we went, just one tenth of a mile off trail.
Olallie Lake
Drying out our gear during a lunch break. Everything was soaked from yesterday's rain.
We haven't seen many of these trail markers. These must be the old version.
A huge tree fungus.
Our campsite, and for once we were able to cook dinner outside the tent. No mosquitoes tonight.
Y-Knot's infected big toe. I'm trying to keep it clean but that's not easy to do while hiking 12 hours a day on a dirty dusty trail. Our feet are black by days end. This foot photo was taken after it had been soaking in a stream for 15 minutes. Not sure what's going on with the black toenail. That may be a separate issue.
