Mile 1,886.1 - 1,912.2

We camped last night by Nip Lake. With a clear sky, we thought it would be nice to camp without the rainfly, and it was. I even woke up sometime after midnight and saw a star shooting across the dark sky. That was amazing timing. The bad news came in the morning when we woke up only to realize all of our gear was soaked with dew. Plus it got pretty cold as well.
Today we had to finish the alternate route to Shelter Cove. It was the dustiest trail to date. Balance and I couldn't even walk within a 100 yards of each other because the lead person was kicking up so much dirt. We also got a little lost around Cresent Lake when the trail hit a dead end at a road. It took some time getting back on track.
We arrived at Shelter Cove in late afternoon, and picked up our food box. We were able to shower here, so that was good. Then we set up camp in the hiker area of the campground.

One of the many small lakes on our alternate route today. The alternate route is called The Oregon Skyline Trail.
