Mile 2,105.2 - 2,126.2

We had an incredible morning climb to Timberline Lodge, with crystal clear views of 11,245' Mt. Hood. This was one of our more spectacular scenery days in a long time.
To Worth: (Rosemary's co-worker at the North Cascades Wilderness Office who has hiked the PCT) He told us not to miss the breakfast buffet at Timberline Lodge. Well Worth, you were absolutely correct. The buffet was outstanding and we filled ourselves to the limit. Timberline Lodge was something we'd been talking about since the start of this trip. Every hiker knows about it and no hiker goes by it. It's an all-you-can-eat buffet, and we did just that.
After the buffet we had to relax and digest the huge amounts of food we just ate. There was an outdoor wedding being set up on the patio of the lodge with the beautiful Mt. Hood as its backdrop.
The hike around Mt. Hood was as good as the buffet. Amazing views of Mt. Hood throughout the day. We had to ford two rivers with strong currents today. Another highlight was the alternate Ramona Falls trail. It was a 2 mile trail that parallels the PCT but had a great waterfall along it.
What a day!

The much anticipated Timberline Lodge.

Worth, this photo is for you! Thanks for leading us to this amazing buffet. Believe it or not, this was only our first course. We went back several more times until we finally wobbled away an hour later. I think we will have food dreams tonight.

Maybe hard to read, but this sign reads: 550 miles to Canada.

Ramona Falls. They are massive falls but were mostly in shadow when we arrived, and my photos didn't come out well with the poor lighting.

Check out Balance's balance. We had to walk across this fallen tree to cross the Muddy River.

  1. Ha ha ha, I love the food pic, and the image of you both "wobbling away" from the buffet.
