At a road crossing we came across Coppertone, who is a trail angel heading north in his motor home. He makes hikers root beer floats. He was out buying more ice cream when we came by. We have missed him 3 out of the 4 times we've passed him. It was too early for a root beer float anyway.
Then we hiked into the Mt. Hood Wilderness and got our first views of the 11,000' mountain covered with snow. An impressive sight.
We set ourselves up for the best breakfast on trail tomorrow. In just 2 miles we will be at Timberline Lodge and they have a breakfast buffet that hikers have been talking about since Mexico. Tomorrow we will see for ourselves if Timberline lives up to its hype.
Taking a break at Timothy Lake.
Mt. Hood from afar.
Trail magic close up.
At highway 35 we came across a bucket full of food and drinks for thru-hikers. Brendan, a man from Portland, stocked this trail magic. While we were here another guy named Pat stopped and gave us more food. Pat said he saw us sitting by the highway and thought we may be hungry. Thank you Brendan and Pat.
560 miles to Canada!
Not our best campsite. Notice the dead tree hanging at a 45 degree angle over our heads. Hoping the tree makes it another 12 hours or we will be cut in half.
It's never too early for a root beer float!
