Mile 764.7 - 766.3 ( Mt. Whitney 17.4 mile spur trail)

No, we didn't make many forward PCT miles today. Instead we choose to hike the 17.4 mile Mt. Whitney spur trail. It was an absolute highlight and a once in a lifetime experience.
Mt. Whitney is the tallest mountain in the lower 48 states at 14,505'. It took quite an effort to hike this but we were rewarded throughout the day with magnificent views. We still can't believe we hiked to the summit of Mt. Whitney. The PCT does not go over Whitney, so all 17.4 miles don't count towards Canada. That's fine with us. It was well worth it.

Y-Knot and Balance heading up Mt. Whitney on a beautiful day.

We can't believe that we are about to hike the tallest mountain in the lower 48 states. This was an incredible day.

We saw many amazing lakes on our way to the summit. This was a very tough day of hiking. The scenery made it all worth it.

Balance using her balance on this tricky ascent of Mt. Whitney.

Y-Knot crossing one of many snowfields today. These snowfields are very steep. You do not want to slip going across these. It would be hundreds if not thousands of feet down the mountain if you do.

We made it! Balance and Y-Knot on top of the highest point in the continental US.
Mt. Whitney 14,505'!
This was a day we will never forget!
