Mile 738.2 - 764.7

Marathon day! We hiked 26.5 miles in some of the hardest terrain to date. We are in the Sierra's now and constantly hiking between 9,000 - 12,000 feet. The scenery has improved, and the temperatures have cooled down.
Balance's calf has recovered nicely and she was hiking strong today.
Tomorrow is a big day for us. We plan to hike to the summit of Mt Whitney. Mt Whitney is the tallest mountain in the lower 48 states at 14,505'. This is a 17 mile side hike as the PCT does not go over the summit . Most hikers take a full day to hike this peak. We may never get the chance to hike Mt Whitney again so we are going for it tomorrow.

Chicken Spring Lake.

Mt. Whitney in the far distance. We are loving the scenery here in the Sierras.

Mt. Whitney is still 25 miles away at this point. We hope to climb the highest peak in the lower 48 tomorrow.

Our dining spot for the evening. Not a bad place to eat dinner. We hiked another 2 miles after dinner to get closer to Mt. Whitney for a morning ascent.
