Mile 637.0 - 659.7

What a difference it was between yesterday and today. Fair to call it a day and night difference. Yesterday we almost passed out in the desert from lack of water and today we were treated to one of the best trail magic ever.
Today's trail magic came at 13 miles into our day at Walker Pass. We could see the tents set up in the campground  from far away as we descended into Walker Pass. Yogi and Jackalope were hosting this amazing trail magic for the past week. They have done this since 2007.
We walked into this trail magic as everyone applauded. Maybe 40 hikers already there from earlier this morning or even ones who camped there and haven't left yet. Heck, what hiker wants to leave trail magic. We stayed for 5 hours and ate till we couldn't eat anymore and drank until we could drink anymore. We hiked up a mountain about 9 miles and are camping at almost 8,000'. May be a cold and windy night.

This is at Jogi and Jackalope's trail magic at Walker Pass. Balance, Y- Knot, Shutter, and Bear Bait in front. Bear Bait is Jackalope's 6 year old son. He welcomes every hiker with an ice cold drink as they walk into camp. Shutter hiked the AT in 2011 also but we never met. He said he recognized our trail names from the registers.

Balance, Jackalope, Y-Knot, and Bear Bait. Thank you to everyone at this amazing trail magic. Just incredible what people do for hikers.

Trail Magic at its best! Many happy hikers, including us. We had pancakes, grilled cheese, fruit, snacks, and drinks. It doesn't get any better than that. We even washed our clothes and our bodies at the cistern. Awesome!

Balance hiking up the mountain just after the trail magic at Walker Pass.

A happy full-bellied Y-Knot. Love the PCT!
